Winter Mushrooms

After reading far too much lately about the start of the Californian mushroom season I need to remind myself that even in the frozen wastes of the Great White North, there are still treasures to be found even in winter.

Many bracket fungi, like the Turkey Tail, have medicinal properties. Usually too tough to eat, many of these can be dried and prepared as a tea. Warm mushroom tea on a cold winter's day? We'll take what we can get while the snow is still falling, I guess.
